Castello Banfi - Il Borgo

Italy

Castello Banfi is a family-owned vineyard estate and winery in the Brunello region, in the south-west of Tuscany. It is a few minutes’ drive from the town of Montalcino, 130 km from Florence Airport and 70 km from Siena. An on-site helicopter landing pad is available.

Castello Banfi is a rarity among Italian wine estates, not just because of its size (some 7,100 acres, of which around 2,400 are planted with vines), its composition of single vineyards, or its state-of-the-art winery, but because it was developed less than 20 years ago.

Dining rooms in a historic stone building offer breath-taking views of the rolling Tuscan countryside, with patios for al fresco dining in the shadow of a medieval castle.

Castello Banfi offers 14 rooms and suites, varying in size, location and décor, all with carefully selected furnishings, fabrics, classic fixtures and luxuriant amenities. Each offers a king-sized bed, while the five designated suites are additionally furnished with a queen-size sofa bed in a separate room.

Federico Forquet of Cetona, one of Italy’s most renowned designers, worked with the Mariani family to create the elegant and comfortable interiors of the rooms and suites as well as the surrounding gardens.

Each spacious room is equipped with a flat screen TV and radio, high-speed internet connection, direct telephone lines, safe, and a selection of complementary estate wines as well as a well-stocked mini bar with water, beverages, and light snacks. Well-equipped bathrooms feature professional hair driers, towel warmers, large showers, several rooms have an additional bathtub. Bath amenities are made from Sangiovese grapes grown on the estate. Each room is painted and furnished in a different colour scheme and appointed with eclectic themed artwork. Several include a separate dressing area, writing desk and breakfast table.

The estate offers: an outdoor infinity pool, fitness room, in room massages, biking, hiking, hot-air ballooning, helicopter flights, driving through the rolling hills of Tuscany, a reading room, wine cellar, wine tasting, conference and banqueting rooms, cooking classes, and a Tuscan restaurant.
